Khulisa Associate Director Elna Hirschfeld shared insights on Early Childhood Protection from Exploitative Child Labour at the 6th African Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect, which focused on Early Childhood Development . The conference was held in Addis Ababa from the 4th to 6th May 2009, and was organised by ANPPCAN Ethiopia and ANPPCAN Head Office in partnership with ISPCAN, UNICEF Ethiopia, Oak Foundation, Save the Children Alliance in Ethiopia, Plan Ethiopia, Africa Child Policy Forum/ICS, Italian Development Cooperation and other government and non government organisations.
This Conference provided a unique opportunity for children, parents, teachers, educators, administrators, child care providers, policymakers, researchers and all those concerned to share experiences and evidence-based practices in early childhood care and education; share information to guide positive policy and intervention program development on early childhood development and education; examine challenges and opportunities for early childhood development and education practices in Africa and lastly, explore opportunities for cross-sectoral cooperation in regard to early childhood development and education.
