Ideal candidates are based in Zambia or Southern Africa. This is a short term opportunity suited for Independent consultants that are fully available for 6 months.  No full time employees allowed to apply. Consultants must be able to work closely with local counterpart personnel.  Fluency in written and spoken English is required.  Essential to have experience working in developing countries, including Zambia.

 


 

POSITIONS – skills & experience

 

  1. Team Leader (Data Scientist / Economist)

  • Master’s Degree in Economics or Statistics, or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience collecting and analysing data
  • 5+ years in performance monitoring issues/data quality audits in water & sanitation
  • 5+ years managing large and multi-sector development projects
  • Experience in 3+ relevant projects in water & sanitation
  • Completed 3+ similar performance monitoring/data quality projects in water & sanitation

 

  1. Water & Sanitation Engineer – Performance Monitoring Expert

  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Engineering, Social Sciences or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in urban/ peri-urban/municipal water & sanitation sector
  • Extensive experience in designing and using data gathering tools, protocols and programs for power sector performance monitoring
  • Extensive experience with local and international utility standards, performance monitoring, benchmarking and water sector institutions and policies
  • Strong quantitative data collection skills; experience analysing water & sanitation technical data

 

  1. Financial Expert – Water Sector

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, registered member of Chartered Financial registration body
  • 10+ years in financial analysis and benchmarking of key financial performance indicators
  • Extensive experience with local and international utility standards, performance monitoring, benchmarking and water sector institutions and policies
  • Strong quantitative data collection and analytical skills
  • 5+ years’ experience analysing water sector financial data plus designing and using data gathering tools for energy sector financial performance monitoring and benchmarking
  • Completed 2+ similar performance monitoring/data quality projects in water & sanitation

 

  1. Social and Gender Expert

  • Master’s Degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Women’s studies or related social sciences field
  • 7+ years’ experience in analysing data and designing social and gender impact assessment surveys
  • 5+ years analysing socio-economic data and using gender-sensitive and -specific indicators
  • Familiarity with household/community surveys (i.e. LSM/DHS or others)
  • Able to address technical, policy, social, gender, and economic issues
  • 5+ years’ experience designing data gathering tools for social and gender indicators
  • 5+ years’ experience using gender-sensitive and -specific indicators for M&E
  • Completed 1+ similar performance monitoring/data quality project(s) in water & sanitation
