Fieldworker / Data Collector

Ideally university graduates with experience with data collection in schools or post-graduate candidates (education, languages, etc.).

Role description:


We are looking to hire experienced and hard-working Fieldworkers/ Data collectors with attention to detail to collect data in schools in the North West province.


Successful candidates will ideally have previous experience as Fieldworkers in school and /or social science projects.  High attention to detail is required to ensure collecting good quality data.   The fieldworkers will work as part of a team and report to a Fieldwork Supervisor that will be based in the field.


Required:


  • Not full time employed
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 2-3 years research, data collection or M&E experience
  • Experience working in the South African education field specifically (Foundation and/or Intermediate Phases)
  • Experience collecting data in schools (preferably primary schools)
  • Experience conducting assessments with learners in primary school (preferably Early Grade Reading Assessment – EGRA)
  • Experience in early grade reading and literacy in the Foundation Phase of education is an advantage
  • Familiarity with electronic data collection
  • Comprehensive understanding of field research ethics


Fieldwork Supervisor

Role description:


We are looking to experienced, hire hard-working Fieldwork Supervisors to manage the day-to-day fieldwork and data collection for fieldworkers that in the North West province. The Fieldwork Supervisor’s responsibilities include attending training, participating in tool piloting in the North West province and being in the field during data collection to manage a number of fieldworker teams.


To be successful as a Fieldwork Supervisor, candidates must be able to manage Fieldwork data collection schedules of and amend them as needed. In addition, the candidates must have excellent communication skills to liaise with the Fieldworker Manager, fieldworker teams and other relevant staff members involved in fieldwork logistics.  


The Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring that teams are adhering to the daily schedule and will be responsible for data quality checks. Building good working relationships with the schools and teams are essential/

  • Minimum 5 years research, data collection or M&E experience
