Since 2020, a Khulisa-led research team Khulisa its partner the University of Wit has been conducting a study on the Nature and Scope of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) in South Africa, funded by USAID and the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) in South Africa, as part of the long-term LASER PULSE program implemented by Purdue University.
