Evaluators often only rely on primary data for their evaluations, but secondary data is very valuable and allows both triangulation and validation. Afrobarometer conducts a series of national public attitude surveys on democracy, governance, the economy and society in more than 30 African countries. The organization has completed seven rounds of its public attitude survey since its inception in 1999.

Afrobarometer’s online data analysis tool allows you to select from a list of 34 participating African countries and download the survey data from the seven survey rounds. Some of the topics include equality and gender, citizenship and identity, taxation, participation and civic engagement, corruption and climate – to only name a few. Data can be downloaded in .csv format for analysis.   What secondary source of data do you recommend?
