Khulisa designed and delivered a comprehensive online course entitled “Data Quality Fundamentals” four times from 2021 and 2024. Designed and taught by experienced Khulisa staff, the three-module course equipped participants with tools and skills to implement data quality procedures, improving data reliability and confidence in reporting, and strengthened participants’ capacity in ensuring high-quality M&E data, emphasizing practical application in real-world contexts.
The course was attended by a wide range of M&E professionals, project managers, and programme staff across NGOs, governments, and donor organizations.
Core Content & Objectives
- Introduction to Data Quality Concepts. Participants gain exposure to key dimensions of data quality—accuracy, consistency, completeness, timeliness—and why these matter for decision-making.
- Designing Robust Data Management Systems. Participants learn to design and review data collection tools and protocols—such as surveys, monitoring systems, spreadsheets—to prevent common errors before and during data collection.
- Conducting Data Quality Assessments. Practical techniques for implementing various DQA methods—such as audits, routine checks, data supervision, and corrective actions—are covered, giving participants hands-on guidance to strengthen their data processes
This course is a strong example of Khulisa’s approach to building capacity in monitoring and evaluation—practical, participatory, and grounded in field-tested methods.
