Khulisa Management Services, in partnership with LASER PULSE Purdue University, the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), conducted a national Trafficking in Persons (TIP) study between 2020 and early 2022. The goal of the study was to provide evidence on the nature and magnitude of TIP in South Africa to policy makers in the Government of South Africa (GOSA) and to development partners, implementing partners, and service providers.

The first of three policy briefs has now been published. You can read the latest policy brief, “Strengthen trafficking in persons policy implementation efforts”, below.

An effective response to trafficking in persons (TIP) requires a holistic approach across all aspects of prevention, prosecution, and protection. However, the implementation of South African anti-trafficking legislation is lacking and TIP task teams need to be strengthened.
